Louis
Icart was a unique Art Deco artist whose style combined the
elegance of the Rococo, the buoyant curvilinear rhythms of Art Nouveau,
and a modern sense of speed. Using as his models the "modern girls" of
this period, with their fashionable dresses, high-heeled shoes, red
lipstick, short hair and eyeshadow, Icart produced sweet and seductive
depictions of Paris in the Art Deco period. He became enormously
popular in France and the United States as the "Parisian Dreamer".
These sweet small
etchings in the style of Rococo take their bearing from the ancient
world of Greek mythology. It`s a world free from "sin". |
