Milanese painter sometimes considered an ancestor of the
Surrealists by virtue of his fantasy portrait heads; these are made up of
fruit, vegetables, flowers, fragments of landscape, birds, animals, human
bodies, tools, weapons, etc. Worked (in conventional style) at Milan
cathedral and as painter to the Hapsburg court at Prague (1562—87).
